My presentation is going to be about bullying; I choose this topic because my family and I have been suffering of such act.

The visit of Estelle Raboni was great!

Estelle’s visit was amazing because she exposed themes that many people think are taboo and felt bad about it. I do thing her website is good for the reason that many teenagers feel embarrass talking about sex and they can have a place to go and read the themes they want to read, themes wrote by expertise people. Unfortunately, we cannot cover the world with one finger; we are exposed to many dangerous things such as illness and behaviors that could be harmful for our new generations, we are surrounded by eccentricities in new live styles. Also, I do think it is better to educate than cure that is why we must have to educate ourselves In order to educate our kids. As a mother I talk to my boys Yulian and Charles 15 and 13 years old respectively. I talk to them of condoms, illness, and their girlfriends because if I don’t someone else is going to do it in wrong way. When my boys have questions, come to me and that is fascinating because they have confidence in me and this make me feel important to them. When I was in my kids age I NEVER went to my parents with questions because I don’t have the confidence to talk to them about my doubts. I just remember my father giving me a book named “The Young Girl and The Sex” I think my father did that because he and my mother felt ashamed of talk about sex or perhaps they saw that my brother and me were growing without important information, I really don’t know. Now we are living in the millennium and my kids are going to have all the information I could give them. In terms of the web page I am thinking in give it to my boys, but I am still looking at it in order to make sure if I am doing a good decision.

Mass Media!! Good or Bad idea hummm

Technology is improving and specialists are taking advantage of this resource, especially professionals in the branch of health because they can use computers plus internet as a gap to communicate populations about illness. Internet is growing at faster steps, at this point you can find internet everywhere, including remote places around the world.
Campaigns are working! For example Truth, the messages has been conscious people especially in New York City about the risk take for the simple fact of smoke. According to the article, numbers have changed the amount of smokers have decreased and the result shows the campaign is working.
In terms of the sit belts awareness, this campaign is great too with positive numbers the same as the tobacco. But, internet and media have its harmful part too; there exist a risk in terms of the negative messages send to kid’s trough television, internet, all communication media and we have little control of this matter.
Unfortunately, obesity becomes a major problem among children and that could be reflected in the fast food commercials they are seeing trough television. Lack of exercise is a problem because most part of teenagers prefers to stay in front of the television, video games and or the computers.
However, I can perceive that mass media in United States revolve marketing more than 50% because one day you see in television that grapes, for example are good for health but, few days latter they said another product is good for the same condition. So, people are changing behaviors constantly according to news everyday.

Joshua Levy

The visit of Joshua was great because he showed me new things that I hadn’t idea existed. For example, the $ 100 dollars laptop is a great program for those who have not possibilities in those places without technology.
I felt interested especially in the web site flickr.com, when I was trying to surf on this page; I found an interesting picture of Pablo Escobar when he was killed on December 1993, this is incredible, on that site you find unimaginable things that you could not believe.
